Cook 1

The cook 1 will be responsible for executing restaurant food in accordance with provided menus, recipes, and presentation standards. Job functions and responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:

  • Complete daily food preparation and cleaning checklists in accordance with property standards
  • Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees; serve as a role model to other cooks and restaurant employees
  • Follow instruction and guidance from chefs, supervisors, and managers at any time
  • Respond positively to constructive feedback and work to improve skills daily
  • Communicate effectively with Front of House managers and employees when necessary
  • Develop culinary specials to be potentially featured on the restaurant menu
  • Interact with guests at live cooking stations, acting in accordance with Highway West Vacations service standards
  • Inform F&B service staff of 86’ed items and available menu specials
  • Pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator
  • Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roaster
  • Prepare special requests or substitutions for guests
  • Communicate assistance needed during busy periods
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications

Additional Requirements:

  • A strong passion and interest in high quality food and beverage operations
  • Ability to work alone and in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
